Randal (Randy) Ernst, EdD, completed 30 years of service with Lincoln Public Schools in Nebraska, and is professor emeritus of education at Nebraska Wesleyan University. As an author, Randy has written or edited psychology textbooks, teacher’s guides and activity books, and has authored or co‐authored articles in The Oxford Review of Education, The American Psychologist and The Teaching of Psychology. He co-authors the high school on-level textbook, Thinking About Psychology (Macmillan), which is in its 5th edition. Randy spent six months in Australia helping Dr. Martin Seligman infuse the concepts of positive psychology into a pre-K-12 school system and coined the term “Positive Education” in a presentation to the Australian Department of Education.
As a pioneer, Randy was a member of the committee that founded the APA Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (TOPSS) and was on the original AP Psychology Test Development Committee. More recently, he has facilitated workshops in several states (and countries) that foster the skills of well‐being (e.g., resilience, gratitude, grit) in teachers and administrators. Randy co-founded the Cultural Competence Center, which provides workshops, seminars, and training opportunities for schools and other organizations seeking to increase cultural awareness in its employees and practices. Luis Santiago is the Associate Director of Coaching Operations at the University of Washington’s Career & Internship Center and has served in this role since 2020.
