The mission of the College of Saint Elizabeth is to be a

The College of Saint Elizabeth is accredited by the Middle States
Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
The psychology department offers an undergraduate major program
leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as an
undergraduate minor program. The program is open to both adult
men and women through the School of Graduate and Continuing
Studies, as well as traditional age Women’s College
students. The objective of the department is to provide students
a strong foundation in psychological theory and research,
covering a broad spectrum of content areas. Emphasis is placed on
developing student's ability to understand quantitative research
methods, critically evaluate relevant theories and apply
psychological principles to real world problems. The program is
designed to prepare students equally well for further study at
the graduate level or for employment in a variety of settings.

The counseling psychology graduate program at the College of
Saint Elizabeth combines advanced study in counseling psychology
with a multidisciplinary core curriculum providing students with
a broad perspective of current issues in psychology, sociology
and ethics. The program has been designed to prepare
professionals to meet the challenges involved in providing
counseling services to individuals and/or groups and to be
effective facilitators of change and growth.
The curriculum encourages students to consider the helping
relationship in light of current trends and obstacles and will
develop in the student the motivation to meet these challenges as
a leader in the mental health counseling profession. By offering
a strong required curriculum in counseling psychology, with
elective courses in a variety of specialized areas, this program
at CSE will serve as a comprehensive knowledge base for
professional responsibilities and concerns.
There are masters' and certificate programs in three
specializations:
Mental Health Counseling
The mental health counseling program is designed to prepare
professionals for work in a variety of mental health or human
services settings, including mental health care facilities,
training and vocational rehabilitation centers, child welfare
and family counseling agencies, institutions for the aging and
other social and community organizations or for admission into
doctoral programs.
School Counseling
The school counseling program is designed to prepare
professionals to work with children in a variety of settings
with special emphasis on educational settings. Building on the
core counseling curriculum, this specialty adds courses
designed to prepare graduates with the skills needed to assess
and counsel children regarding personal, social, educational
and vocational concerns and to develop cooperative
relationships with community agencies in assisting children and
families.
Student Affairs in Higher Education
The student affairs in higher education program is designed to
prepare professionals for positions in colleges and
universities that require a strong counseling foundation as the
basis for enabling college students to achieve their
educational, personal and career goals. Graduates are prepared
to work in positions in college counseling centers, career
centers, admissions, student life, resident life and dean of
students’ offices.

The mental health counseling program is designed to prepare
professionals for work in a variety of mental health or human
services settings, including mental health care facilities,
training and vocational rehabilitation centers, child welfare and
family counseling agencies, institutions for the aging and other
social and community organizations, or for admission into
doctoral programs.
Students who wish to acquire the educational credentials to meet
licensing and/or certification requirements may apply to this
program. In this program, additional course work up to 25 credits
and/or supervised field experience is provided for students who
have completed a master's degree in counseling psychology or a
closely related discipline.

The College of Saint Elizabeth offers a unique 15-credit certificate in student affairs in higher education. The 15 credits earned in this certificate are transferable into the College of Saint Elizabeth 48-credit MA in Counseling Psychology degree with specialization in student affairs in higher education, if the student meets all qualifications and is admitted into the program.
The Student Affairs in Higher Education Certificate is designed
to give the foundation of skills needed to prepare professionals
for positions in colleges and universities that require a strong
counseling base for enabling college students to achieve their
educational, personal and career goals.
