At Phillips Graduate Institute, we offer graduate and doctoral
degrees in psychology and the field of human relations, as well
as post-graduate credential programs and continuing education
workshops for mental health practitioners who are interested in
furthering their knowledge. All programs provide students with a
unique blend of academic, personal and professional learning
opportunities, designed to educate well-rounded mental health
practitioners who are skilled in all aspects required in their
specific field of choice.
Designed to meet the needs of today's busy student, our higher
education programs offer small class sizes, professional faculty
and curricula designed to help foster future clinicians and
consultants. The experientially-based academic approach lends
itself to an ideal learning environment. Each program is crafted
with the busy individual in mind, allowing for the working adult
and recent graduate to essentially tailor a schedule according to
the 'real world' schedule.
The marriage and family therapy program provides collaborative
learning and opportunities for academic, clinical and personal
transformation. The goal of the program is to graduate students
who are well-prepared for licensure and who exhibit relational
responsibility within their respective personal and professional
communities.
Coursework for this 48-unit degree program is taken once-weekly,
with day-long classes; however, students spend an average of five
additional hours a week in other learning activities. In
semesters one and two, these learning activities are case
conference and group dynamics; sections are offered at various
times throughout the week and on the weekends. In semesters three
and four, case conference and group dynamics are replaced by
hours of experience gained at a clinical placement site.
Occasional attendance at all-day, workshop-style classes is also
required.
