Fielding Graduate University sets the standard world-wide for
quality and innovation in transformational distributed graduate
education and research. We support the well-being and success of
our students as they pursue their goals and seek significance as
life-long learners and leaders in their professions in the
service of ethical social change and social justice. Our
graduates make a difference.
The mission of Fielding Graduate University is to meet your
educational and professional needs as an adult learner and a
mid-career professional. To this end, we have developed an
educational model that builds on your existing learning and
professional experience, that features collaborative,
competency-based learning and assessment, and provides flexible
scheduling to accommodate the many demands placed upon your time
as a working professional.
We offer fully accredited, high quality graduate education
programs that are rigorous and demanding. Our outstanding faculty
will challenge you in many ways as they help prepare you for the
life of the scholar-practitioner. As a Fielding student, you will
become part of a community of scholars dispersed throughout the
country and around the world. This community is committed to
transforming graduate education and research to advance
individuals, organizations and society.
Multicultural awareness and self-development are among the core
values of the School of Psychology. Students evolve as
scholar-practitioners within their own social and cultural
contexts. Our programs attune students to the ways in which
differences in race, class, gender and ethnicity relate to the
theory and practice of psychology.
Fielding's PhD program in Clinical Psychology received APA
accreditation in 1991. Today, it is the only distributed learning
model accredited by the APA. Students may pursue the generalist
PhD degree or select from one of Fielding's five elective
concentrations: health psychology, forensic psychology
neuropsychology, prevention and control of violence, or
parent-infant mental health.
The format of the doctoral program allows for intensive,
face-to-face contact at local cluster meetings, clinical and
research sessions, psychological assessment labs and national
sessions. Online forums and electronic library services deepen
the interactions between students and faculty, and reduce the
geographical barriers in a distributed educational program.
PhD in Media Psychology
The PhD in Media Psychology, the first of its kind in a School of
Psychology, is a non-clinical degree that develops
scholar-practitioners with a high level of understanding of the
relationships between media and behavior. The doctoral program
will benefit executives in journalism, entertainment, publishing,
software development, business and telecommunications, as well as
leaders in government, public policy and education.

MA in Media Psychology and Social Change
Fielding Graduate University's School of Psychology offers a
master's degree in media psychology and social change with the
cooperation of UCLA Extension. Students study the specific
benefits of understanding human behavior when working with media
applications, how media affects individuals and cultures, and how
media can be used for socially constructive purposes. Open to
those with a bachelor's degree or higher, this partnership
program provides a sequence of four courses from UCLA Extension
that may be applied directly to a master's degree in media
psychology and social change from Fielding Graduate University.
In addition, special provisions are available to those who may
later wish to pursue a doctorate at fielding. Offered entirely
online, the program allows for great flexibility and attention to
individual goals; carefully planned activities to allow you to
maintain your professional career while in the program.
Postdoctoral Certificate in Neuropsychology
Back to top
In our 2-year Postdoctoral Neuropsychology Certificate program,
students and faculty meet in cluster groups in major metropolitan
areas. Currently clusters are located in Southern California,
Chicago and New York City. The program is designed for doctoral
level psychologists practicing with populations of
neuropsychological relevance who wish to gain special proficiency
in neuropsychological assessment and intervention. The program
offers a thorough grounding in neuropsychology, with extensive
hands-on experience in administering, scoring and interpreting
major neuropsychological tests and batteries.
Postdoctoral Respecialization in Clinical Psychology
Back to top
The Postdoctoral Respecialization in Clinical Psychology is a
certificate program for individuals who already have a
non-clinical doctorate in psychology. Knowledge areas for this
program are instructed by the same faculty as the doctoral
program in clinical psychology, which received APA accreditation
in 1991. Students generally require at least 36 months to
complete the coursework, psychological assessment labs, practicum
and internship.
