Many working adults have earned some college credit in the
psychology field of study, but because of their personal and
professional commitments, they have no practical way to complete
their degree. The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree
completion online program at Argosy University offers a solution
to those students who began their studies at another university,
community college or junior college, and for whatever reason,
were not able to finish their program. Argosy University offers a
program of study developed for working professionals who want to
achieve a balance among their career, family and education.
The goal of the BA in Psychology program is for you to build a
broad understanding of social sciences theory and the application
of these theories in real-world work environments. Our faculty
teaches you the skills and competencies required to launch your
career.
The BA in Psychology degree can also prepare you for graduate
study in psychology fields such as counseling, social work, and
marriage and family therapy. Our curriculum is complementary to
the master's and doctoral degree programs in the College of
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at Argosy University.
In the BA in Psychology program, you may select a concentration
in the following areas:
Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology
The MA in Forensic Psychology is designed to educate and train
individuals who are currently functioning, or wish to be trained
to function, in fields that utilize the study and practice of
forensic psychology. The curriculum provides for an understanding
of theory, training and practice of forensic psychology. The
program emphasizes the development of students who are committed
to the ethical provision of quality services to diverse clients
and organizations. The program provides coursework in forensic
psychology for application to law enforcement, legal and
organizational consultation, and program analysis.

professional in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. This is an
interdisciplinary program that combines the expertise of the
faculty in the Colleges of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences and
Business.
Master of Arts in Sport-Exercise Psychology
Back to top
The Master of Arts (MA) in Sport-Exercise Psychology program
offered online through Argosy University is designed to educate
and train students for roles dealing with the ethical performance
enhancement field. Sports psychology graduate programs involve an
understanding of the various psychological/mental factors that
affect performance in sports and exercise.
This two-year degree program is part of Argosy University's
American School of Professional Psychology and was developed for
students who want to work as consultants with coaches, athletes,
school and community groups on performance enhancement and life
skills development. This program aims to train students seeking
employment in a variety of settings, including private practice,
athletic departments, coaching, exercise/health, and education,
as well as those who will ultimately pursue a doctorate degree.
The goals of the program include developing student competencies
in the following areas: theoretical foundations, helping
relationships, individual and group skills, normal and abnormal
behavior, sport sciences, research and evaluation, diversity and
professional identity.
Based on the educational requirements outlined by the Association
for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the curriculum provides
students an opportunity to develop a foundation in applied sport
psychology, an understanding of normal and abnormal psychological
functioning, and a knowledge base in the physiological, motor and
psychosocial aspects of sport behavior.
Graduates of the MA in Sport-Exercise Psychology program are
eligible to apply for "provisional status" as a certified
consultant through AASP.
EdD in Counseling Psychology
The Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology helps enhance
the professional expertise of those pursuing leadership,
supervisory, training and teaching positions in the counseling
profession. You will focus your scholarly work on the application
of research techniques to the counseling practice. Students
typically enter this program with master's level counseling
backgrounds in mental health, social work, school counseling,
pastoral counseling, family therapy and psychiatric nursing.
Certification and Licensure
Please note that the EdD in Counseling Psychology does not
prepare graduates for licensure. In the counseling field,
licensure is generally earned at the master's level. The doctoral
curriculum at Argosy University expands upon the general
preparation of master's-level practitioners. Licensure
regulations vary by state; students are responsible for checking
with relevant certification agencies in the state in which they
plan to practice.
EdD in Organizational Leadership
The success of an organization depends upon good leadership; but
today, most organizations are desperate for highly trained,
skilled leaders. The EdD in Organizational Leadership at Argosy
University serves to fill the gap by preparing students to become
visionaries capable of driving organizations during times of
dynamic change.
Our curriculum enhances professional expertise and develops
personal abilities, and it positions practicing professionals to
compete and work in complex organizations faced with increasing
globalization, societal shifts, and elaborate strategic
partnerships.
EdD in Pastoral Community Counseling
The Doctor of Education (EdD) in Pastoral Community Counseling
program is based on the fundamental belief that
religious/spiritual communities provide a unique opportunity for
human growth and development. The program is designed to prepare
leaders within religious communities with an opportunity for
personal and professional development, directed toward making a
significant contribution to their community and to society. With
this in mind, the program integrates the engagement of knowledge,
the development of skills, reflective practice, and research in a
manner that prepares the pastoral counselor to address individual
and communal development in an ethically responsible fashion.
The Pastoral Community Counseling program is committed to the
concept of community. In this regard, the learners participate
with one another and with faculty in a virtual community. This
provides a means of support and interaction that exceeds the
boundaries imposed by geographical definition, and utilizes
technology for the purposes of individual, community, and
societal development.
