Certificate in Transpersonal Studies (Online)

The certificate program is built upon a core curriculum with specific area electives taken in conjunction with general electives. The certificate programs expand, through comprehensive instruction, the exploration of the principles and practices of transpersonal psychology. All programs include opening and closing Seminars. Upon completion of the certificate, students may apply for admission to one of the Global Master's programs.

Provides a broad and foundational study in the theories and techniques of transpersonal psychology as applied to the student's personal and professional growth.

MA in Counseling (Online)

The master's degree in Counseling Psychology, designed for students who desire a professional career in counseling and psychotherapy, fulfills the academic requirements for graduates to qualify for state licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists or Licenced Professional Counselors. The curriculum combines foundational coursework in transpersonal psychology with specialized courses in counseling theory and skills development, including a year-long supervised practicum experience.

The 74-unit curriculum consists of 45.5 units offered in an online instructional format and 29 units of hands-on clinical training, offered during two week-long residential intensives per year. Flexible scheduling allows students to complete the program in three or four years. Some states may require additional coursework to meet their specific licensure requirements. This additional coursework will be available through our program.

MA in Spiritual Guidance (Online)

The Spiritual Guidance MA at ITP is designed for students who have a passionate interest in spirituality and a deep desire to serve as professional spiritual guides or spiritual directors. This program is also meant for professionals and practitioners in counseling, psychotherapy and other related fields who desire additional training in working with clients' spiritual issues.

The ITP approach to Spiritual Guidance is meant to serve spiritual seekers of all backgrounds, ranging from those deeply involved in specific faith traditions to those who define themselves as spiritual but not religious.

We live in a religiously and spiritually pluralistic society. ITP's MA in Spiritual Guidance offers an exciting multi-cultural, multi-faith orientation, providing students with theoretical and practical training.

MA in Transpersonal Psychology (Online)

The Master's in Transpersonal Psychology (MTP) provides students with a level of mastery necessary to use the transpersonal approach to become leaders in developing fields such as psychology, health care, education, religious studies, human services and community service. Students seeking an MTP degree are required to develop and write a research thesis under the guidance of a master's level faculty member and a thesis committee. Each thesis is a unique contribution to the field of transpersonal psychology and to developing its research methodology.

MA in Women's Spirituality (Online)

Our two-year, 54-unit weekend master's program in Women's Spirituality offers an advanced degree for women at a pivotal "crossroads" in their lives. The program promotes intellectual and creative expression and explores and integrates the intellectual, social, psychological, artistic, and spiritual aspects of womanhood. The Women's Spirituality program has at its foundation the values of transformative learning, with a view towards encouraging students to engage their local communities as change agents who live and work in accord with their own beliefs and values.

Our program's primary goals are to inspire social action and spiritual activism and to teach students how to think critically and work in ways that allow for personal transformation and consequent social change.

PhD in Psychology (Online)

The Global PhD in Psychology provides opportunity for working adults to study transpersonal psychology in a distance learning and online format for personal, educational or professional advancement. The program is designed for mature students who have the ability to work independently and the desire and motivation to parlay the principles and practices of transpersonal psychology into creative and professional applications. ITP's Global PhD in Psychology is a 120-unit, flexible program combining online classes, residential seminars and innovative research.

ITP's new PhD in Psychology focuses on the research, evaluation and application of transpersonal principles, (such as mindfulness, discernment, compassion and appreciation of differences) in four major areas: individuals, small groups, organizations and global community. Besides giving students the opportunity to integrate academic rigor with experiential learning, the program fosters collaborative learning through group dialogue and participation. In addition students will have the opportunity to apply these principles of transpersonal psychology to specific activities, such as research, counseling, education, wellness, administration, as well as religious, spiritual and other helping professions.
