The psychology department offers an undergraduate major program leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as an undergraduate minor program. The program is open to both adult men and women through the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, as well as traditional age Women's College students. The mission of the department is to foster students' understanding of the discipline of a strong foundation in psychology, ethical decision making, respect for self and diversity in others. Students completing their major will have a broad understanding of the theories and research methods of the discipline. In this way, students will be prepared to apply psychology to everyday life, study the discipline on the graduate level, and work successfully in their chosen field.
The College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE) has established an 18-credit program designed to provide students with theoretical and practical knowledge of the criminal justice/legal system. The student will gain an understanding of the sociological and psychological theories of victimization, effects of victimization, training in basic intervention/counseling skills and professional experience in victim services through a professional internship placement. A 50% tuition discount is available for current criminal justice professionals, such as police officers, law enforcement personnel, firefighters, court administrators, correction officers and members of the US Armed Forces on active duty.
There is a growing movement within the criminal justice system in the United States to better support and serve victims of crime. This movement, which had its beginnings in New Jersey, is now becoming nationwide. Police departments, social service agencies, as well as county prosecutors' offices, are providing victim services. The program is taught by experienced faculty members and consists of a combined curriculum from the areas of justice studies, psychology and sociology. This certificate would be beneficial to any individual looking to pursue a career in any area of victim services or a current professional within the criminal justice system, social work agencies, hospitals and community mental health agencies.

The program is designed for professionals who want to expand their career options. Forensic psychology, a rapidly growing field, focuses on the application of science and the profession of psychology to questions and issues relating to law and the legal system

The program will group people from diverse backgrounds who seek an advanced understanding of psychology. It will be an asset for those in careers such as human resources, social service agencies, religious organizations, and a variety of other challenging people-intense careers.
The counseling psychology graduate program at the College of Saint Elizabeth is designed to prepare professionals and counselors to meet the challenges involved in providing counseling services to individuals and/or groups and to be effective facilitators of change and growth.The curriculum encourages students to consider the helping relationship in light of current trends and challenges and will develop in the student the motivation to meet these challenges as a leader in the counseling profession.The school counseling 48-credit track is designed to prepare professionals to work with children in a variety of settings with special emphasis on educational settings. Building on the core counseling curriculum, this specialty adds courses designed to prepare graduates with the skills needed to assess and counsel children regarding personal, social, educational and vocational concerns and to develop cooperative relationships with community agencies in assisting children and families.
The M.A. in Forensic Psychology and Counseling program provides graduate with the skills and knowledge they need to provide effective, high quality mental health counseling and evaluation services in a variety of forensic settings. The program balances traditional knowledge of counseling with the understanding, evaluation, and treatment of adult and juvenile offenders, as well as the victims of crime and domestic violence. The curriculum will prepare graduates to work in a number of settings such as juvenile detention centers, secure forensic units in state facilities, community mental health centers, jails/prisons, probation services, court service units, protective services, violence risk assessment, and specialized agencies such as child advocacy centers.
